Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school, and despite the high poverty, over 95% free and reduced lunch, and language barriers, our students come to school with smiles on their faces and are eager to learn and take advantage of new learning opportunities and experiences. In my sixth grade classroom we are 1-to-1 with Chromebooks however we don't have enough working headphones for every student to use on their computer. This means that we can't take full advantage of this technology by using the apps and programs on the Chromebooks. I also teach students with learning disabilities and that have English as a second language. There are different programs on the Chromebooks that would help me differentiate their learning as well.

I find this quote to describe my teaching style and environment. I enjoy engaging students in meaningful activities. Learning centers and small groups are a significant part as well.

My Project

This class set of Sony headphones will allow each student to concentrate on listening to only their computer. Currently, we have very few working headphones, and when we are using our laptops for educational purposes, activities and content is broadcast for all to hear resulting in what you'd imagine a casino or arcade to sound like, not a classroom.

These headphones will allow students to focus on their independent lessons and do away with disrupting their neighbors or other classmates.

A classroom free of disruption will help lead my students toward being successful and productive as they learn how to use and make sense of technology.
