My Project
This book, "Here I Am, I Am Me," takes an otherwise heavy subject and makes it accessible to younger readers. The author bills this book as "a full-color graphic novel-style adventure through the brain that demystifies and destigmatizes emotional and mental health."
Having a class set of this guide to mental health will provide a jumping off point to discuss matters that affect our teenage students.
I find that the book expertly walks that fine line between dumbing down the subject and being too academic, and the graphic novel format makes the subject matter less frightening.
