Help me give my students access to our class pets, Winston & Quincy. It is hard to transport them to & from school, but this cage would help our guinea pigs get to their preschool friends!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My preschool students are 3, 4, and 5 year old's from low-income areas. Many of these students have disabilities and need a great foundation for learning. The ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale), states that preschool classrooms should include at least two living things. We have two guinea pigs, Winston and Quincy, who are beloved by our preschoolers. Having these pets as part of our environment enables my students to learn care giving skills, learn to practice safety and follow rules, and much more. Through feeding and caring for our guinea pigs, my students are learning measurement, pre-reading skills, and social skills, such as independence. It can be difficult to transport the guinea pigs back and forth to school, but this rolling cage would enable easy transportation and ensure my preschoolers get to be with their pets.
