My Project
Having a fish as a class pet supports student learning by teaching responsibility and routine through care tasks and providing a calming presence that can improve focus and reduce stress.
My goal for this project is to build teamwork and collaboration skills as students work together to care for the fish.
I want to encourage students to take ownership through daily care tasks like feeding or tank maintenance. Doing these tasks can help cultivate compassion and empathy because the student is caring for a living creature.
My students come from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds which can enrich the classroom. Diversity fosters teamwork and as students learn to communicate and work together, they can care for the fish collectively.
