This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Imagine coding being as simple as coloring! Ozobots are miniature robots - they fit in the palm of your hand - that follow the path of a line drawn by a black marker. Now envision a cute little robot wiggling and dancing its way around a track that you drew! Ozobots can help students learn to code just by using simple coloring systems. When students use these highly engaging robots, they will also be communicating with their peers and collaborating to decide which code would work for different situations.
The best part is that the simplicity of these robots means that any student can easily access the technology.
Using robots is a wonderful way to make the abstract science of computer programming more concrete for younger students. Kids can draw symbols and use different colors to program the robots to perform tricks, turn, spin, and more.
A starter set of Ozobots can make this dream a reality even for students who are beginners to computer programming.
