This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students beat the odds every single day. Most come from low-income housing. Most live in the Bronx. Most are either immigrants or first-generation Americans. Most try to make the best possible outcomes day in and day out. All of my students have so much potential to make incredible versions of themselves. I know that, even though they may have missed an assignment or had a rough start to their day, they are trying in the face of constant adversity to further their development. Others may see youth and think they have them all figured out because of how they look or present themselves. My students don't care, because they know themselves. Yet, through it all, they keep trying to force a future where they are thriving.
My Project
These items will help make smooth transitions and hopefully avoid lags in their learning. Having pens always available helps students who forget or don't have writing utensils. Masks are crucial for their safety and health during covid, so having more on hand will help. The Apple TV will help make transitions to the projector much easier without all the cables. The printer ink will be important for any last minute things that need to be printed for students.
All of these materials will make the class more fluid and make transitions much easier, especially as time is precious in the classrooms.
