My Project

I am a special needs teachers in a low income, inner-city school district. My classroom consists of 12 amazing middle school-aged students, all diagnosed with a moderate disability. Their eagerness, and enthusiasm towards learning is not only contagious but inspiring as well, as despite the difficulties they endure on a daily basis, they still come to school, every day, ready and excited to learn.

This year, we are implementing a new reading program called Orton Gillingham.

This program focuses on fluency and decoding strategies targeting beginning readers. Along with this program, high interest books are suggested to be used in congruence with the program. We are asking for donations to purchase some of these books, such as "No, David", "Hop on Pop", and "The Patchwork Quilt".
