This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am blessed to teach second grade in Conroe, Texas, and my school services a rural part of East Texas. My school is a Title I campus and has primarily minority students. Most of my students will come from families in which "money" isn't plentiful. 71% of my campus qualifies for free meals. My students' families will struggle to buy supplies for school much less clothing and other needs that families have to sustain life. As a teacher, I want to take as much burden off the families and students as possible when regarding school and learning. My goal is to have a class that is stocked and supplied with fun, exciting, engaging activities. I want my class to be a loving and fun place for them to learn. I want to have the newest books, supplies, games, and activities to engage their young minds. Part of my focus is on creating a class that is inclusive of materials that represent multiple styles of learning.

My Project

These books and magazine subscriptions will be utilized to increase the classroom library to include books of interest to the students as well as knowledge-based materials. There are books that are exciting, engaging, and also very important fact-based reads. I have chosen to include books with diverse cultures, books that have award-winning written success with engaging readers as well as books and magazines that my students can utilize with siblings or parents at home while practicing learning the skills of reading. This will continue my effort to create the most amazing classroom library in my school.
