This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hardworking fourth graders who come from some diverse families of Miami. Many of my students are coming in as English language learners and are adjusting to not only learning rigorous material but learning in a new language. They are learning all about what it means to be kind, responsible, and safe in and outside of the classroom. Their parents can be very supportive and want their children to receive a great education.
My students love reading and writing.
Helping develop their skills is essential to their success. They improve with assistance and are always willing to try their best.
My Project
For this project I am hoping to fund a class laptop. I am currently teaching in person. I know that student access to technology is essential. My students work on an online program called, "iready" and do online unit tests. Additionally, they access their reading and writing through their computers. Having devices readily available to students is essential for them to participate in class work.
There are frequent technological issues, due to student chrome books not working, or internet issues, to any other tech issue under the sun.
Therefore, having access to more devices and efficient technology is unbelievably helpful. I was so fortunate enough to have a Chromebook funded through donors choose in 2019, and having a working device to help students without one was necessary this year. So I truly hope this project can be funded to help my students have better technology access.
