This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of our favorite parts of the day is when we sit down to read together.

My students are a quiet, sweet class that is ready to learn.

School provides them routine and security in a chaotic world. We are in a busy urban neighborhood between a park and the public hospital next to the freeway. There is a lot of foot traffic and homelessness.

My Project

After a busy morning we will come to sit quietly on the rug each with our individual copies of the requested 'Love That Dog'. Before we begin we will examine the book and discuss what we think will happen. After we read, we will recap what we have read. I will read aloud as the children follow along in their personal copy of 'Love That Dog'.

We will experience the joy of sitting in a quiet space listening to 'Love That Dog' and following along.

We will discuss the plot and the characters. We will wonder where the tale is taking us. We will enjoy the pleasure of reading after working hard. We will have other books by Susan Creech to explore on our own.
