During this past school year, I used book studies to foster my students' love of reading. As I move to teach 3rd grade this year, my goal for this project is to ease my students into reading longer texts and enjoy following characters' journeys for longer amounts of time.
After spending a good amount of kindergarten online due to COVID, my incoming 3rd-grade students have been described as energetic but good kids.
We will spend time reading these books together to encourage their love of reading. I would like to integrate projects that are connected to these novels, such as an actual Lemonade War where students need to develop their economics and math skills, and make these novel studies more meaningful to students.
