This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We teach a wonderful group of eager 2nd grade students. They always come in with smiles on their faces and are ready to take on each new day.
Class 2-300 has 24 bright, enthusiastic learners!
They are curious, excited, respectful, and grateful. Our classroom is an ICT (integrated co-teaching) class. Our school is in an extremely high needs, high poverty inner city area. Our students are trying to conquer the second grade curriculum! Our students are so passionate about learning despite all of the challenges that they face. They come to school ready to learn even though they are missing parts of their families back in their native country. Many of the families are extremely poor even though all adults are working multiple jobs. We want our students to reach for the stars. We work on their confidence levels daily and let them know we will NEVER give up on them.
My Project
Our class relies heavily on a printer. We make worksheets daily and for our special education students who have difficulties taking notes, we print the notes for them, so they do not struggle to copy or see what is on the board. Students have opportunities to type writing assignments and they love being able to print a copy and share it! Some of our newer students have not received all of the textbooks and workbooks that we use in 2nd grade due to limited materials. This requires us to print the materials from the Online resources so students are still able to complete the work. With a printer, this will be much easier to do on a daily basis!
With a new printer, students will be able to have all of the necessary materials needed.
They will all be able to have their own materials. The turnaround time for copies on our building is not always quick. Sometimes it may take a week to receive one set of copies. Having a printer with a copy machine will allow us to complete our work in a more timely manner.
