In these times of severe budget cuts, my school has limited the number of photocopies that can be made. I feel it is essential for my third graders to be able to print and photocopy their writing. In addition, it will be extremely helpful if they can photocopy information from the Internet.
My third grade students come from diverse ethnic and racial groups.
More than sixteen languages are spoken at my school. Their families are mostly newly arrived immigrants and speak little or no English at home. They have rich cultural backgrounds which they share eagerly with their classmates. We celebrate their varied cultures with music, dance, prose and food.
In class, where English is spoken, the students have opportunities to communicate with each other both verbally and through writing. The students do a great deal of group work, where their ethnic differences matter not. The students are highly motivated and quite enthusiastic.
My Project
This copy machine will enable me to print the student's writing, so it can be easily shared in the classroom and with other classes within the school. This machine will also allow me to forward the students' writing to a variety of venues; schools in other locales, contests and the like. This machine will also permit my students to print out information from the Internet when doing research projects.
A photocopier/printer will allow my students' written expression to be printed, distributed and shared with many others.
Teachers can no longer have student work photocopied due to the severe cuts in the school budget.
