Circuits and Magnets

Help me give my students electrical circuits for a fun hands on circuit lab and magnets for learning about magnetic fields and poles.

My Students

I have a variety of classes everyday. I teach two 3rd grade, two 4th grade, and two 5th grade classes. I only teach science and love doing that. My students are very eager to learn, but teaching science can be very expensive. We do at least 1 or 2 experiments a week. They are very costly at times. The students learn best from hands on so I try very hard to make sure that we do lots of these in class.

My Project

These materials will allow the students to be able to do more hands on projects. They will be able to see for themselves how the circuit works and what might be attracted to a magnet. They will use the light bulb, wire, and battery to create their own circuit. They will create both series and parallel circuits. They will put them together in groups to provide electricity to a house.

The magnets will be used to teach polarity and how things can move even if not touched.

We will also make an electromagnet and learn how to trouble shoot when things don't work right.
