“When does electricity flow in the circuit?”
Let’s do circuitry to find out! A typical day in my classroom involves hands-on activities a majority of the time. I want my physics students to be ready to tackle college physics. My biggest challenge is a lack of funding to complete these projects.
My students LOVE to engage in technology.
Unfortunately, these projects cost a great deal of money. Our school is mostly low-income, yet many of my students are potential candidates for college. Preparing these students for college will ensure success in their lives. Helping my students become smarter together in the classroom will aid in college readiness!
My Project
My students need 10 circuit kits for laboratory practices. This project will give my students a hands-on approach to working with circuitry. These kits can be used multiple times, so there will be no additional costs to keep them in working order. My students will be able to construct series, parallel, and combination circuits. These kits will allow my students to take measurements involving current, potential difference, and resistance in a circuit. Numerous projects can be performed involving sound, magnetism, light, waves, vertical and horizontal motion, acceleration, energy and its conservation, and momentum. Finally, these kits are user-friendly and students with all levels of learning can benefit from them.
I will be able to provide hands-on activities for circuitry which I have not been able to in the past.
My students thrive on engaging activities, and seeing the relationship between our lesson and real-world experiences keeps the kids motivated to learn. My students will have a better understanding of physics which will ensure success in college.
