Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of my students' favorite projects each year is engineering electric art. I love it, because students come away with a deep understanding of Ohm's Law and series and parallel circuits. Students love it, because they get to be creative and build their own circuit. Through this project, students need to create an art pieces that incorporates a circuit with light bulbs that have three different levels of brightness.
Through this project, students get to create their own piece of electric art that integrates a circuit with an artwork of their own design.
They'll need to think creatively to figure out what they want to paint and how to integrate light bulbs with varying levels of brightness into their art. The circuit needs to meet particular specifications, but there are multiple solutions. There are many approaches to creating a circuit that will fit the criteria which forces students to think deeply about the circuitry skills that they have learned. They'll really get to see the why what we learn in class is important and how it is relevant to their everyday lives.
Students finish this project with something they are proud of and can't wait to show off to their fellow classmates and family members. Help me make this project possible by providing my students with wire and wire cutters.
