Help me give my students the Lakeshore Classic Birch Store-It-All Teaching Center to efficiently organize our circle time materials and ensure that our circle time sessions proceed smoothly.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach Transitional Kindergarten (TK) at a Title I school, where 77.2% of our students come from low-income backgrounds. My classroom is a vibrant, inclusive space that reflects the beautiful diversity of our community. My students—both general education and special education—come from a wide range of racial, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Each child brings unique strengths and learns best through play, hands-on exploration, and meaningful routines.
To support their growth, I’m requesting the Lakeshore Classic Birch Store-It-All Teaching Center.
This high-quality, durable unit will serve as the central hub for our circle time and morning meetings, where we build community, celebrate identity, and set the tone for the day. The teaching center will make these routines more efficient and engaging by clearly displaying visual schedules, storybooks, learning materials, and anchor charts—helping students better understand and participate in our shared learning.
This unit will also help us neatly organize key materials used during circle time—like books, name cards, feelings charts, and prompts—making them easier to access and easier for students to see. When visuals are clearly visible and consistently placed, all students—especially multilingual learners and those with special needs—can more confidently engage, making mornings smoother and more meaningful.
This project is rooted in a commitment to racial and educational equity. Many students in under-resourced communities face systemic barriers to high-quality early learning. By creating a structured, welcoming environment, I aim to ensure that every child—regardless of background, language, or ability—has access to a space that reflects their worth and potential. As educator Rita Pierson said, “Every child deserves a champion... who understands the power of connection.” This project helps me be that champion by creating a space where all children feel safe, seen, and supported.
