This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a reading interventionist, all of the students I teach have significant reading delays. The majority of these students have some type of learning impairment that interferes with their ability to read on grade level. My class is also comprised of English language learners who either know a small amount of English or do not know any at all.
My Project
The classroom that I am in currently does not have a carpet. We are in need of a carpet for morning meeting. We would use the carpet on a daily basis. The carpet provides a comfortable area for students to sit during morning meetings and many other activities throughout the day.
Having a carpet will give our classroom a homey feeling.
The carpet will be a great place for my students to read with their reading stuffed animals, which is what the large baskets are for. The carpet also features the alphabet to help students learn their letters. A carpet would make our classroom feel complete.
