My Students

I am blessed to be teaching Kindergarten for the fourth year at our school, as unconventional as it has been. Our school has a beautifully diverse group of students in many ways...​I have lively, social little friends and also many quiet, introspective friends. We value each child's personality as they contribute to our classroom community. We also value each child's identity as it pertains to race, gender, family unit, and socioeconomic status.

A diverse population of students brings about a diverse population of learners.

Our classroom is comprised of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. The lessons and curriculum used in class seek to meet the needs of each student.

My Project

One of my favorite parts of teaching Kindergarten is sharing our circle time together. We do this sitting as a classroom family on or around the carpet. For years, we have used a carpet with alphabet squares provided by the school. This carpet has served it's purpose well. However, Covid has ushered in a different protocol in classrooms that makes this carpet less effective.

Our new rug will allow me to invite students to circle time and give me the ability to distance them appropriately as guidelines continue to change.

In addition, this will be a beautiful, bright way to freshen up our classroom for this new season of education!
