it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I would love to treat my cool kids to a literacy themed fiesta based on the book "Chicks and Salsa” to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo holiday.
A literacy based fiesta room transformation would enhance our reading lesson and engage my students in learning.
I need the books to help develop students’ knowledge on Cinco de Mayo. Many of my students do not know about Cinco de Mayo so I plan to use the books to teach them about it. Teaching students about different cultures can help them feel more comfortable, safe, and accepting of differences. Helping my students learn about different cultures would allow them to interact in with different groups of people and feel more confident in themselves as well as in their interactions with others. No fiesta is complete without chips and salsa! I would love for my students to be able to eat Tostitos Rounds, salsa, and nacho cheese during our fiesta on Cinco de Mayo. The kids will also make quesadillas so the 2 oz cups will be used for sides such as sour cream. The disposable plates and utensils will be used for students to eat foods. The headbands, napkins and mini flags will all contribute to the spirit and decor of Mexico.
