Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our goal for this project is to get as many cans as possible from the community to support our local food banks that provide food for our classmates and their families who do not have enough food at home. This year our school decided not to have a canned food drive to help support the cause so our Interact group has decided to have a 3 week canned food drive filled with multiple events including a sack race, a bake sale/festival night, a walking taco event, and a final event where we slime teachers who raise the most cans. The students currently involved in our Interact club strive for change. We see a need in our community and we are driven to find a way to help with that need. Our students want to make our entire community a better place and that is why we have events not only including students at CHS but the entire community as well. The requested items will help us facilitate our events that people will be attending. We plan to use canned donations as the ticket for them to participate instead of charging money. We will raise awareness for this event by posting flyers all around Carson City and CHS. We also plan to have many announcements regarding the agency's and their mission statements to raise awareness.
