About My Students

Malich, Caleb, Pauliyah, and Joziah desperately want to tell stories digitally about travel. They don't want to simply tell stories of their lives in Sacramento; they want to experience new adventures, tell those stories, and change their futures for the good in the process.

None of them have ever traveled outside the state--and a few have never left their neighborhood--so they feel they are in need of fodder for good storytelling. Helping to send them overseas will not only give them the experiences to chronical but also the exposure to a richer life than they could have imagined!

On the British Isles College Tour through intoMOTION Travel, students will embark on an adventure which will take them on a guided tour of some of the most influential and prestigious universities in England, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland. Over the course of 10 days, they'll have a chance to experience campus life in other countries, see the sights of some of the world's great cities, and create some lifelong memories. And because their tour guide is an experienced academic and college coach, they'll receive individual coaching sessions to think through what's next for them after high school.

Specifically, they will be challenged to develop grit and real-life problem solving as they plan the trip and navigate through foreign countries. Also, they will gain knowledge about video blogging (vlogging) before we travel so they can digitally record and post their trip memoirs.

In Their Own Words

We want a chance to see the world and tell our story as we go. We want to travel to the British Isles to discover more cultures and a different part of the globe so we're inspired to explore the rest of the world. We want to know what it will be like to go to college somewhere other than in the United States.

We plan to organize details like creating and wearing matching t-shirts so know where we all are as we travel. We will document our adventure digitally as we go and when we return, we will use our stories to encourage other students to explore the world. Students at our school are very unlikely to travel to another country so we need to pave the way and encourage others to follow our example.

Most students at our school don't want to travel to another country because they think that our country is the best; but, we're going to travel overseas, take pictures and videos of different countries and universities to show our classmates how amazing other cultures can be. We want to encourage our community to get out and explore the world!
