My students are highly motivated by tasks that involve technology, and many of the new lesson plans are research and technology driven. Unfortunately, our current access to computers is limited to one or two days a month. Funding this project would allow students to share every day!
My students are curious, hard working and eager to learn.
From a predominately rural, economically depressed area, many of them do not have access to technology outside of the school. Unfortunately, as a social studies classroom we are not on the priority list for technology in the classroom. As a result we usually only have access to technology one or two days a month. In the last two years our school has made tremendous growth in our student achievement. Much of that positive growth can be attributed to becoming more comfortable with the technology on which they are assessed.
My Project
This project will allow students 2 to 1 access to technology on a daily basis. We use Google as our operating system and our students are getting quite adept at Google Docs, Slides and even Google Classroom. This project will allow us to do research, Web Quests, presentations and even create our own News Broadcasts.
Funding this project will allow our classroom access to technology on a daily basis.
While it will not be one to one access, it will allow them to partner comfortably. Today's social studies classroom is heavily research based. We find that our students are more engaged and make greater meaning for themselves with the curriculum when they interact with the resources, rather than read from a textbook.
