Chromebooks... The Best Teaching Assistant To Help Special Needs Students

Help me give my students three Dell chromebooks so that we can have access to technology in the classroom on a regular basis.

My Students

Hardworking. Dedicated. Adaptable. Ambitious. Eager. Resourceful. Responsible. Persistent. Diligent. Adventurous. Collaborative. Creative. These are all words that I would use to describe my students.

I teach 170 of the most captivating, diverse students you can possibly imagine, students of all levels, from special needs to gifted and talented, with myriad ethnic and financial backgrounds.

These young people spark a Marie Kondo level of joy in my life that I just cannot explain with simple words. I want nothing more than to teach them the most engaging Texas History lessons possible with the resources that they deserve.

My Project

The Portrait of a Graduate... A personally responsible global citizen who is a communicator, a creative innovator, a leader and collaborator, and a critical thinker. This is the new expectation for students, and we, as educators, are charged with ensuring that our students have access to the engaging, thought-provoking lessons that aid in honing these attributes... If only we had the resources!

I never want access to technology to be an excuse for not being able to provide my students with the engaging lessons that they deserve or the learning accommodations that they need.

I am asking for three Dell chromebooks so that my students have regular access to technology in the classroom. Foremost, they will allow my special needs students to have access to applications that can read to them in the classroom whenever they need it. These same tools define words and help my English Language Learner students to translate text. They will also be used for in a variety of ways in stations. They will allow us to have at least one station that always utilizes technology so that we can regularly build our twenty-first century skills through various educational technology sites and apps. Utilizing EdTech tools is important for learners of abilities. The chromebooks will also give me the ability to build digital enrichment lessons for my GT students in my advanced classes. Our GT students are often overlooked, and I plan on building digital STEM challenges for enrichment. Lastly, it will give my students regular access to research. My students are routinely questioning the content of our Texas History class and question the world around them. They need the ability to be able to regularly look up information.
