My Students
I work in a neighborhood of Boston. This neighborhood is known for housing numerous college and graduate students, but it's also bustling with a number of elementary, middle, and high schools. My school services students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade; I specifically service students in grade five.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds, varying in language, religion, homeland, interest, and learning style; where they intersect is a desire to achieve.
The students in my class have multiple goals for their future. Some want to go into medicine, both human and animal, others want to be athletes, and some want to teach and create video games. They are a hodgepodge that works and grows together.
My Project
As the years have come and gone, technology has become increasingly important in our classrooms. Students and teachers need access to technology for a variety of needs - written and spoken communication, presentations, testing, research, executive functioning, and the list continues. Students having easy, consistent access to technology in their classrooms is necessary.
Access to Chromebooks provides exposure to technology for students whose experience may be limited to phones and tablets.
Experience with Chromebooks is necessary in a world where academics and the workforce is become more reliant on such expertise. Having Chromebooks permanently housed in my classroom will be a welcome addition for all of us in room 318.
