Chromebooks in the Classroom: Engaging First Grade Readers with Technology
My students need Chromebooks and Raz-Kids an online reading program. Adding this technology to our classroom will increase student engagement and learning!

My Students
Our 1st graders live in NYC and come from a variety of backgrounds. Our 1st-grade classrooms are places where students are equals and respected. Our school provides many opportunities for students.
I am working to create the best classroom environment for my 1st graders.
I am working towards having multiple flexible seating options for them. I also want to have storage options so students can easily access materials on their own. We will also increase independence by learning to use new technology.
My Project
My first graders come from a variety of backgrounds. However all of them are very quick to learn and engage in new technology.
Adding Chromebooks to our classroom will allow students to practice reading, writing, and math in new and engaging ways.
We will use the Chromebooks to practice typing our writing, review and learn math facts, and use Raz-Kids.
Raz-Kids is a great online reading program where students get their own log-in information and read books at their level. It allows all students to use the Chromebooks at their just right level! We will be using this program to increase our reading stamina.
