My Students

This will be my first year teaching in the Alaskan frontier. My family and I relocated to the Kenai Peninsula early this summer.

I have learned that teaching in the Borough is preparing for multiple classes and subjects.

Because of Covid-19, smaller class sizes of 15-20 students will be possible; however, we have to be ready to transition to distance learning with almost no notice. Unfortunately, many students do not have a laptop or Chromebook. Without a proper device, distance learning will not be an option for these kids.

I haven't had the opportunity to get to know my students very well, as school is still a week away. However, the community and school staff has welcomed me with open arms.

My Project

Chromebooks will be a great resource for my students. Although we have seven Chromebooks in class and five desktops, that's not near enough for all 21 students. We are living in uncertain times. It is absolutely imperative that these kids get access to technology so they can be trained on how to access e-learning tools, curriculum, and resources.

I am aware that projects over $1000 typically do not get funded.

I believe that there are enough people out there who will donate to this project. No parent wants to homeschool their child and try to figure out Google Classroom. Fund my project, and I will teach the kids how to ace Google Classroom and many more tech tools.
