My classroom is the LC counseling center, it's the black top and the lunch room, it's every classroom at LC, and sometimes it's even a student's home. A counselor works beyond the typical classroom walls.
Middle school students are navigating an exciting, new and fragile time in their lives.
They are trying to make sense of their world, making them curious and thoughtful. They are learning about who they are. Their unique personalities and academic abilities are developing and their need for independence is growing. They live in a time where technology is integrated in their lives and these are the tools that keep them current and relevant. This same technology can aid in their academic, social and emotional success.
My Project
The role of a counselor is to provide support services to all students on campus. These Chromebooks will allow me to reinforce the study and work skills needed for the ongoing academic success of my students. These tools also support the inclusion of all students and interventions like reteaching content or independent study support. The technology will help me keep students on track academically, whether they take them into their classroom or they use them in the counseling center. Students will have the tools to keep learning no matter the social, emotional, academic or physical struggles they encounter.
When students need support outside the classroom, it is critical they quickly realign with the curriculum and expectations of their course load.
This technology will connect students to the teachers, parents and campus support staff via online resources and learning applications. Learning can be the focus and academic success can be the boost my students need.
