Help me give my students who are English Language Learners the ability to translate words as they hear them in the lessons. Our students are not allowed to have phones in class.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have English Language Learners who are just beginning to learn English but are in monolingual classroom settings. While we review vocabulary and content in small groups, the Chromebooks will help our students translate words and phrases as they hear them in a lesson via Google Translate. This ability will increase their content learning in 'real time' The Chromebooks will also give them easy access to e-books and sites that are created especially for English Language Learners.
While access to a phone or a computer would give students this ability, our students are not allowed phones and we share our computers across many classrooms.
These 4 chromebooks would be shared across the four grades giving our most limited language speakers broader access to our curriculum.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
