Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of our students are at risk youth. Over 75% of our students qualify for free and reduced price lunch. About 33% of our students are English Language Learners.

They are hard workers!

Some of our students come into kindergarten not knowing how to spell or recognize their names but by the end of the year many of them can read and write. Their success is because of hard work.

Our students live in a rural community. Many of the families work in the orchard, plastic bag factory, dairy farm, or lavender fields near the school. The kindergartners like to jump outside on the trampoline, climb trees, play outside, and go hunting with their families.

My Project

We need more technology in our kindergarten classrooms. Our students would like 4 Chromebooks because they can be used daily in small groups. Making technology available to our students will allow them to access information, practice skills, and access online reading and math curriculum.

We want our students to practice using technology as a tool.

The students in our school play video games and watch television, but we want them to have structured time in class to analyze information they hear, communicate with others, and refine their blossoming skills in reading, math, science, and writing. These Chromebooks will make an enormous impact on student learning in our kindergarten class.
