Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most or our students are at risk-youth. Over 75% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. About 1/3 of the students are English Language Learner.

They are hard workers.

Some of our students come into kindergarten not knowing how to spell their name but by the end of the year many of them can read and write. Their success is because of hard work.

Our students live in a rural community. Most of the families work in the orchard, plastic bag factory, dairy farm, or lavender fields near the school. The kindergartners mostly like to jump outside on the tramp, climb trees, and hunt in the summer.

My Project

We need more technology in our kindergarten classrooms. Our students would like 4 Chrome books because they can be in small groups and take turns using them daily. By making technology more available to our students they will be able to access information, navigate the internet, practice skills, and access online reading/math websites.

We want our students to practice using technology as a tool.

The students in our school get plenty of time to play video games and watch television. We want to structure time for the kindergartners to analyze information they hear, communicate with others, and refine their blossoming professional skills in writing, reading, science, and mathematics.
