My Students
Our school is a large community school where all of the students live within a few miles of the school. We have a diverse population of students - my school serves over 50% minorities and 32% economically disadvantaged. We also have a large military population (25%), students who speak other languages, and students diagnosed with ASD and other learning challenges. I have two classes each day to whom I teach reading, language arts, writing, and social studies. My classes include a very broad range of skill levels with some students reading above grade level and other students reading on or below grade level.
My Project
Technology is found everywhere, yet in our schools, we are often lacking these key resources children need in order to help prepare them for the future.
My goal is for each child to have their own personal Chromebook to further their education as independent learners.
We currently have four Chromebooks and 2 desktop computers in our classroom to share among 22 students. Several more Chromebooks would give students the technology needed to complete independent and group research projects at school, be better prepared for all of our computer assessments, access to reading programs that our county supports, and allow students to practice technology standards that otherwise get overlooked. By giving to our project, we will be one step closer to preparing the next generation of innovative thinkers.
