Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a low-income school and they face many different challenges outside of the classroom. Many of my kids have so much enthusiasm towards learning. With that in mind, I try to create a classroom environment where they can have meaningful learning experiences.
Most of my students are going to be 1st time college students and they need all the support that they can get.
My school is a linked learning school where teachers try to integrate the curriculum with our work-based theme of Health.
My Project
I am requesting a 2 Chromebooks for my class. We spend time in my classroom talking about current events and my students need to be able to explore these different news sites to get current event information. I have my students log on to CNN to watch CNN STUDENT NEWS and they get to watch and listen to current events.
My students often have questions on American government and we log on to C-SPAN Classroom to do web based activities.
They also research people in government and access videos of speeches. This will greatly improve their learning and at the same time increase their researching skills.
