My students are Bilingual with limited English proficiency. My students love learning through technology. Computer programs and learning websites allow them to learn at their own pace in a differentiated way, based on their strengths. My Bilingual students are in need of technology to help provide access to the curriculum, differentiate their instruction and help them become twenty-first-century learners. My students are eager to learn and willing to try, but they have many odds stacked against them. Our school is located in an urban area. My students come from a low socioeconomic background. Although we are faced with many obstacles, we have created a school culture that is nurturing while setting high expectations. We have a lot of work to do, but we can do it!
Chromebooks will make a difference in my students' learning for English as a Second Language and Literacy. My students have specific needs and this project is designed to meet those unique needs. English Language Learners need foundational skills, repetition, guidance, and access to online material which they can utilize independently in order to assist in their achievements.
My students will use the Chromebooks to access English as Second Language websites, literacy and research projects.
Additionally, they will use them to publish writing pieces.
Chromebooks will help my students achieve English Language Proficiency, academic goals, benchmarks, End of Unit Assessments, and State standardized tests.
