This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in an urban elementary school where there is a 100% free or reduced price lunch population. The students I teach are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. As economically disadvantaged and English language learners, my students have the odds stacked against them. Despite the many challenges they face, I want to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences that will inspire a lifetime enjoyment of learning.
In my classroom, I focus on students' potential and create an environment where students want to be successful and are successful!
My goal is to provide a caring, nurturing, and healthy environment that is conducive to learning and teaching.
My Project
We have a wonderful variety of online curriculum resources. We have access to online books, study guides, practice quizzes, educational games and videos I have created. We often try to get on the computers to access these materials and other classes are using the computers. This is the biggest obstacle to overcome because the lack of computer access places us at a disadvantage.
My goal is to provide students with Chromebooks so students have computer access when needed, not determined by a rotating schedule that doesn't meet my students' individual needs.
With the addition of these two Chromebooks, we are able to provide our students with a tool to specifically work on the curriculum programs to enhance student learning.
