Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a diverse group of students. This year, I have students in my classroom whose families are from Mexico and Central America, India, Ethiopia, and various parts of the United States. Six of my twenty-five students are English learners. My students also come from socio-economically diverse backgrounds. While some are from middle-class families, more than half come from working-class families. My students' families are interested and involved in their children's educations. However, as a school community, we need assistance to obtain materials to enrich student learning.
My Project
The two Chromebooks you are funding will be a great asset to our classroom. My students will use them to work on their writing skills through Skies Learn and Google Classroom; to review math skills on Zearn.org; to improve their keyboarding skills; to do Internet research for project-based units; and to delve into topics of interest through BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. These Chromebooks will allow my students to become better readers, writers, and mathematicians, as well as enhance their academic, technological, and critical thinking skills.
The two Chromebook will replace two nearly obsolete iPads.
These iPads have been in my classroom for almost 8 years. They are slow, difficult to update, and often my students are not able to access websites or apps intended to help them with learning. Your donation will provide us with two Chromebooks that my students will to use to access a variety of wonderful learning resources. We hope that you will help fund our project!
