When my school was forced to close in March, we felt prepared for virtual learning. However, we only had enough technology to support our 3rd and 4th grade students. Our PreK-2nd grade students had to rely on their parents' technology (often times a cellphone) to complete our virtual lessons.
Many of our students were without proper technology to be successful in virtual learning.
COVID-19 hasn't gone away, and we're facing the reality that some of our students' families are scared for them to come back to in-person schooling. To respect their wishes, we need to be able to support their decision to learn virtually by providing them with the necessary technology.
My Project
Our students were forced to learn virtually this past spring due to COVID-19. My students' families really stepped up to the plate in assisting their child's learning any way they could.
Many families didn't have the proper technology for virtual learning, often using their parents' cellphones to complete assignments.
I'd like to better prepare our students and families for what's to come this fall when school reopens. I would like to provide the proper technology so my students don't have to worry about how they're going to continue their learning if they choose to learn virtually. It'll also help ease the strain put on families that were all working from one laptop to get their work done.
