My Students

My students form part of a very diverse school district. We have children of many different ethnicities. They come from the suburbs, small towns, public housing, and even a farm. In the classroom we learn to work together.

I teach 25 third graders who have only lived in the 21st century; however, our school is just starting to move out of the 20th century in technology.

They love to learn coding and creating projects on the computer, as well as reading books and solving problems.

They are excited when they are doing things themselves. Hands-on learning is what they thrive on. In third grade they are starting to become independent learners.

My Project

With these 4 Chromebooks, we will meet our goal of having one Chromebook for each student in the class to use. Students will no longer have to share a computer. We will now be able to use Chromebooks in more of our class activities. We will take notes, conduct research, collaborate in teams, and make projects to demonstrate our learning. Another great by-product of using Chromebooks is that we will use less paper (a win for Mother Earth). Besides being able to use chromebooks in our traditional school subjects, we will also use them to learn to code and use our coding skills to program robots. With these chromebooks we will finally be 21st century learners using 21st century tools.
