This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing! Most of them have been at the school since kindergarten, and our school is special because we can really develop a close relationship with each individual student as they grow up.
As a school with a bilingual program, students are immersed in rigorous instruction in both English AND Spanish!
There are numerous benefits to being bilingual and students work very hard to access the curriculum despite it being a challenge. We have both Spanish-dominant and English-dominant speakers, which means that 100% of our students are second language learners!
My Project
In this time and age, students need to be more aware of how to use technology. We are not quite ready to have a Chromebook for each student and having these additional 5 Chromebooks will have us at 20 (in a class that can have up to 25 students)! We are hopeful that this project gets funded soon so we can have the students use them for their projects on ecosystems as well as to familiarize themselves with other features that can be helpful to their learning.
Students will be motivated and engaged with the technology!
They love to use websites such as Tenmarks and First In Math to engage them in their learning!
