This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Bright eyes and grinning faces greet me each morning, eager to enter our classroom each day. Occasionally, sad, teary, or even angry eyes greet me as well. All students patiently wait their turn to give me a smile, hug, fist bump, high five or even to share whatever has them feeling blue.
I have the pleasure of teaching 44 amazing and unique individuals, many who are English Language Learners and/or economically disadvantaged, and some who are gifted and talented.
They enter the classroom each day anticipating the day's activities. Even though some students come in with worries, they are soon actively engaged, and, if only for a few hours, worry free.
I have high expectations for my students, and they strive to meet those expectations daily. My goal is to encourage them to be the best fourth graders and lifelong learners they can possibly be. They are the reason I enjoy teaching.
My Project
The addition of two Chromebooks in my classroom will greatly benefit students. Since the school computer lab is shared among six grade levels, my students will be able to access technology more often in the classroom.
Since many of my students are two to three grade levels behind in reading, having additional Chromebooks will allow more students to continue receiving reading instruction on their level while I am delivering small group instruction at the guided reading table.
These students will be able to work on research-based programs furnished by the district that provide instruction, activities, and assessments on their level and make adjustments according to individual needs. In addition, other content matter will be integrated into their learning. Students will be exposed to informational text topics including math, science, history, and health.
By receiving additional reading instruction, practice, and reinforcement each day, students should be able to make a year's growth, if not more, by the end of the school year.
