This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are young and eager to learn! They come from a low-income, community-of-color in the inner city. In this high poverty area, my students' home lives may be turbulent and they may witness drugs and violence in the surrounding community. Our school is small, about 450 students, and we want to make our school a safe, colorful, fun, learning, and welcoming community for each and every student. No matter what changes occur in the outside world, my goal is for my class to be a safe place where students feel valued and where they can grow their love of learning as well as learn how to be kind individuals.

My Project

Learning in the 21st century requires my students to be technologically savvy, especially when using a computer. As expectations for students increases, so does their need to have exposure to various forms of expressing their thoughts and evidence of new learning. As a STEAM school, technology and math go hand in hand.

We need chromebooks and headphones in our classroom, so that students can experience math and technology as one.

My students are excited about the opportunity to explore math through on-line programs. We just received two sets through our first project, but we would like to reach a total of six in order to work in a small groups. Completing this project would give us four of the six!

In addition to math, the chromebooks can also be used for online literacy and reading comprehension programs. As well as, research based projects, college preparedness and google classroom activities.
