My school is a small school serving pre-kindergarten to sixth grade in a suburban Southern California community. I teach a first and second grade combination class. My students are a diverse group with many different backgrounds and abilities who are inquisitive and motivated to learn.
My students are excited to use technology to learn, create, and practice skills in a manner that is fun and engaging.
My students need daily access to technology. We currently share nine Chromebooks with 32 students. We need more Chromebooks to give my students more opportunities to build their 21st century skills.
We use technology every day in my classroom. While I am conducting small groups, students use the Chromebooks to learn and practice essential skills in all curricular areas. Many of the websites that we use individualize instruction and activities to provide each student with the remediation or enrichment that they need. Some websites encourage competition with each other or collaboration on projects. They use the Chromebooks to connect with the world and conduct research. Students create Google slide shows using information that they have collected from the internet and present them to others. They use Google docs to create and publish stories to share with others.
The Chromebooks will give my students more opportunities to learn and increase 21st century skills that will be needed to be successful.
Chromebooks increase student engagement and achievement. We appreciate any help that you can give us to help us provide more Chromebooks for 21st century skills in our classroom.
