Chromebooks During COVID-19

Help me give my students Chromebooks to conduct virtual learning during these unprecedented times. Many households have one computer but some don't even have that. All I need are 5 to supply to my most needy students.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school in Philadelphia and are part of inclusion classes throughout their school day. My students struggle in academics and/or behavior skills but always put their best efforts into their work on a daily basis.

My students are not a sit at your desk, listen, and regurgitate information type of students.

They are young, boisterous, energetic and quite talkative. My students are comprised of grades K-3 and will give you any lesson you want on fidget spinners, Roblox, and dance crazes consisting of anything off of TikToc. Fortunately, I can control these impulses through diverse teaching strategies to enhance their love of learning!

My Project

COVID-19 has taken over and presented teachers across the nation with new stressors, virtual learning! I teach students with special needs in a low-income school and many of my students do not have access to technology, as many of our suburban counterparts do. If technology is in the home, there may only be one computer or tablet, but my families do not have a household with only one student! I have five families that are in need of an additional computer in their home at this time so that they can access the learning platforms that we are working so diligently in providing. I want to make sure that with each computer, they are also offered a set of headphones. The ability to keep the noise in the house would be greatly appreciated by parents! Once the schools open back up, I would like to collect the Chromebooks and use them for a digital resource to be lent out to students throughout the year that may need to work on assignments that can be completed outside of the classroom!
