The students in my class are sweet, thoughtful, inquisitive, and constantly asking questions about their learning. The students enjoy learning through cooperative groups and hands-on projects, which promotes social and learning skills for the 21st century.
Our school is located in an industrial area in the city of Los Angeles with 100% of the student population receiving free or reduced-price meals.
Due to budget constraints, our school was unable to purchase some necessary technology tools for the students in my class to use. Most students do not have access to technology at home; therefore, they are eager to come to school to learn. The students enjoy learning to learn about math and science through the use of various learning applications. I strongly believe that technology will enhance my students' learning.
My students all love using computers to learn whenever they have the opportunity. This Chromebook will provide more opportunities for the students to practice their math, reading, writing, science, social study and research skills.
The students will use the Chromebook to access different learning websites in reading, writing, math, and science so they can enhance their learning.
They will be able to use websites like Mobymax, Kahn Academy, Between the Lions, PBS reading, Storynory, Splash Math, and Prodigy Math, just to name a few. Just recently, my school has just implemented a web-based program called SKIES. Teachers can create a task card assignment in any subject for each student to complete online to show their understanding of a subject. Students have a choice to answer verbally as well as typewritten. Students can see immediate teacher feedback as well. We need more working and up to date computers for them to share and learn in different content areas.
By donating to our project, my students will be eager, engaged and motivated to come to school every day to have fun while learning and to be successful.
