Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a high poverty/low-income school district, my students are faced with a multitude of problems in and out of the classroom. Even though my students face many challenges, they still manage to enter the classroom with a smile everyday. As a teacher, I look to keep school as consistent and simple as possible and provide a caring classroom community where students receive meaningful learning experiences.

My students love to read, write and jump at the opportunity to show their work.

Many of my students are raised in single parent households and all receive free lunch based on socioeconomic status. Even though these are things that would ordinarily prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the experiences that many people consider "normal", my students have the advantage of living in a big city with lots of learning experiences. I always focus my teaching on the potential that my students have within them, and fill the day with joy and rigor. Although I cannot control the countless hardships my students face at home, I always do my best to lift their spirits and have a joyful school experience!

My Project

My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education and technology to spark an interest in reading and mathematics. Education is changing every single day, and so is the technology needed to teach effectively. Students in my classroom like to research and learn on their own. My classroom has computers that are 15 years old, so I would like to have a Chromebook in my classroom to keep students technologically literate.

The Chromebook will be used to type student assignments and to complete research assignments for social studies.

The Chromebook will also be used alongside our math curriculum which has online components that students cannot currently access. The Chromebook will diagnose student needs and tutor students individually.
