My students need new Chromebooks to use at school and at home. With these laptops, students can interact easily with their teachers at all times and have Google Translate available at their fingertips.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school at Union Square serves students who have lived in the United States for four years or less. The welcoming environment in the school with many support services, ranging from providing help in legal matters to meeting the medical needs of the students- IHS-US allows the new immigrants to learn about the world around them while developing their English skills.
All the students of the school have diverse linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
The diversity of the school allows the students to develop respect for other cultures and values while finding out their place in this world and how they can bring change for better. Students also work collaboratively on projects designed to bring out the richness of their cultures, experiences, and personalities. Students have the opportunity to be placed at an internship in 11th grade that matches their career interests.
My Project
My students need access to Google Chromebooks to complete school assignments, translate words from their native language to English and practice English, as well as do academic research.

The Chromebook will be used everyday (including some weekends when we offer tutoring services) by our students. The transition into a new educational system and new country is difficult for all of the students that we serve. The Chromebook would help my students to better communicate with their teachers and peers while allowing them to spend their free time in school effectively, completing their homeworks and projects as well as researching services and program that may be helpful for themselves and their families.
Using the Chromebook, we can also help students apply for educational and/or employment programs and plans towards attending college in future.
