My students need a Chromebook to help with completing work in the math centers, because having more technology at our fingertips will assist with achieving our academic goals within our classroom.

My Students
Many of my third grade students are significantly behind their peers in Math. We have on-line intervention programs and apps that will help them to close the achievement gap, but not enough technology for them to use these interventions.
They all qualify for Title 1 and free breakfast and lunch.
They come to school with very little exposure to technology. Many have had no preschool experience. About 3/4 of my students enter school significantly behind their peers from more affluent areas, and this learning gap increases every year.
My Project
When my students are allowed to use any kind of technology, such as an Ipad, a tablet, chromebook, or a new laptop, they are active in their learning experience. This is a new day and age where we no longer need a classroom of just teacher lecturing. My students want to actively participate in their learning process, and with access to more technology, they are more involved with it. My students have learned how to work with another partner, or in a small group on the very limited number of computers/technology available in the classroom, and although this collaboration of sharing has been wonderful for them, it would be even more wonderful having access to one more computer. This would increase the number of students that are able to work on the computer at a time, especially when we are needing them for testing as well.
Technology-based tasks and assignments help keep my students engaged and motivated and this chromebook will greatly help me with differentiation and allow for small group technology-based instruction.
My Beautiful Brown Babies love when they are given the opportunity to use technology to show what they have learned, and as a proud teacher of some of the most outstanding students ever, I love seeing what they can do. Currently we have 30 students trying to function in a classroom with 5 computers, with a lot of mandated language arts and math program with technology components. Just one more computer will greatly impact my wonderful class of 3rd graders and they certainly deserve to have one.
