Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 8 & 9 year olds who show perseverance, not only in school, but in their lives. They work hard and hope for a better future, despite the meek circumstances that surround them. They are an inspiration and my motivation to be the best teacher I can.

I teach at a Title I school with a high population of English language learners.

In my classroom, we are a community of learners. A community where I am a resource to my students and a facilitator of learning who guides my students through their journey of discovery, learning & exploration. My students are hungry for knowledge and I want to empower them to become lifelong learners. I want to give them the skills they need to pursue knowledge long after they've left my classroom.

My Project

Learning during a pandemic has been difficult for all: students, families, teachers and schools. This year, students are learning in person, but must be prepared to shift to online learning at the drop of a hat, should they be exposed to Covid, show symptoms, or test positive themselves. In order to ease the students flawlessly between learning at school and learning online, they are being asked to carry their chromebooks back and forth between school and home. Any one who lives with or worked with students knows that this task is much easier said than done. There are so many things that can go wrong on both ends of this transition and in between. For example, breaking their chromebook along the way or forgetting to charge their device.

For this reason, I would like to support my students by offering them chromebook sleeves for all of their devices and extra chromebook chargers, one to have at home and one at school.

The chromebook sleeves are small enough to put in their backpacks and give the chromebooks some support, without adding too much extra weight to their backpacks. The students do not all have the same chromebooks, therefore they require one of three different types of chromebook chargers. These will be kept in a locked chromebook cart at school. The chargers they currently have will be kept at home.
