My students belong to a college-preparatory exam school in an urban district. They are high achievers. Many will be the first in their family to go on to college after they graduate from high school.
The students whom I teach are bright, dedicated, and curious.
They work hard to understand the material even though the resources which are available to them may be outdated. These students deserve the best and I can only give that to them with your help!
My Project
Latin 3 students read very challenging texts and must show that they have understood the author's main idea and purpose for writing. Additionally, they make connections to contemporary topics to show their relevance today.
Currently students are writing a persuasive speech about a topic they feel strongly about.
They are including the rhetorical figures of speech which Cicero used so well in his oration against Catiline. In order to make their persuasive speech as impactful as possible, they are including slideshows, infographics, and images. We need Chromebooks so that students may write their speech and work on the accompanying technological aspects.
We only have 25 Chromebooks and need 5 more to fill up the cart. With class sizes at a maximum of 31, even this number may not be enough. However, the cart we use only has room for 30. If we had 30 Chromebooks students would be able to spend more time on their products.
