Creativity, imagination, problem solving and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for every student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals. Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,100 children enrolled.
We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.
My Project
Since I am no longer able to update my iPads, I would love to begin adding Chrombooks to our classroom. My students need to stay up-to-date on current technology. With Chromebooks, creative learning possibilities are endless. They can create multimedia projects, use apps to help them improve in all subject areas and create and edit videos. Struggling readers and writers can use a voice-to-text and word predictor app to help them gain confidence in reading and writing. The consumable materials are needed for me to continue planning room transformations for fun and engaging lessons. I need eight more headphones to complete a classroom set. Each student will have his/her own set to use all year. These can be wiped and cleaned easily to minimize germs. I want to add the string lights to my new reading nook area to create a calm and focused environment. Since we have slick tile floors, I need gripper rug pads to prevent my area rugs from slipping and students falling.
